Study on Adsorption of As(III) by a New Bio-Material from Chitin Pyrolysis

چکیده

Chitin-char is obtained from fast pyrolysis of chitin. To obtain the maximum surface area, chitin-char treated by nitric acid. Then, a kind new arsenic removal bio-material prepared loading Ca(OH)2 on char (called Ca(OH)2-char). IR spectroscopy before and after treatment reveal at least three distinct patterns peak changes. An adsorption study performed different doses, pHs, coexisting ions in batch mode. The kinetics follows two first-order equations. Kinetic studies yield an optimum equilibrium time 2 h with adsorbent dose 0.4 g/L concentration 10 mg/L. Using only carbon, capacity about 99.8%. result indicates that Ca(OH)2-char has high process removing (III).
